Te Ahu a Turanga Noho Marae

Description:  In week 7, we had an overnight stay at the local Marae in Woodville.  We were immersed in Maori culture and participated in a range of activities.  We set two goals to focus on during our stay.



Big Idea:  
1.  Did you achieve your goals?  How do you know?
yes because I woke up at the marae.

2.  What are you most proud of from the marae stay and why?
not miss my family and go to sleep when I am told.
3.  What challenged you the most and why?
I never got to sleep by my friend beause I was silly.

Position and Orientation (Geometry with Eb)


Description: We have been learning about Position and Orientation with Eb. It is a part of our learning about Geometry at maths time.

WALT: give and follow directions using, left, right, up, down, North, South, East and West

Questions:

1. What major landmarks can you see from the plaza? Subway, bus stop



2. What is the closest landmark North-West from McDonalds?  united video

3. What direction is the Arena from United video? West south

4. After the doctors I turn right down Victoria Ave and turn right at the round about. I travel South-West until the main road. Turn left. Follow road and stop at the 3rd right turn.Travel South-West and stop at the bottom corner of the square. What am I doing?...

a) Going Shopping      
b) Getting a Sandwich at Subway      
c) Getting a library book      
d) Hiring a DVD
5. Create your own instructions for someone to follow using the language you have learned.
After the united video  I turn down princess st to ferguson st. Turn right go down pitt st.turn left what am I doing show grounds. James "I enjoyed working with you as we followed the instructions and edited them to add directions like left and right".

marae story telling

Purpose: create a story to share orally

Description: Oral storytelling is a Maori tradition. We have been planning our own story to tell on the Marae in Week 7.






This is me telling my story


Success Criteria:

  • Between 1 and 2 minutes long

  • Using your voice to make sounds effects

  • Using your whole body to make actions

  • Use your face to tell a story through facial expression

  • Knowing the story, knowing the setting

  • Get the picture into your listener’s head

  • Stay in character - keep your composure.

  • Audience participation

  • Unique and original (Hook your audience)


    Evaluation I need to rember my story off by haet because I want to do my story at camp next year. I still felt scared because  people laney at me. and not just say hi eva  bye eva.
